Costa Esmeralda and Balneário Camboriu

Itapema is part of the tourist region known as Costa Esmeralda, which includes in addition to the city of Itapema, the city of Porto Belo and Bombinhas. Itapema borders the south with Porto Belo which in turn borders the city of Bombinhas. To the north, Itapema borders the city of Balneário Camboriu. In practice the whole region since Navegantes, including Itajai, Balneário Camboriu, Camboriu, Itapema, Porto Belo and Bombinhas has a very close urban perimeter and can be considered a conurbated region. Itapema is one of the most growth cities in the state and has the construction sector as the strongest in the city. The delivery of increasingly luxurious and higher enterprises is increasing resembling what happens most notably in Balneário Camboriu.

Nightlife is another attraction in the region, major events including international attractions are common mainly in Balneário Camboriu clubs. Club Green Valley, for example, was first in the British magazine Top 100 Clubs DJ Mag. The club is the only one from outside Europe to win the title and was elected number 1 five times. Other prominent clubs are Shed and Taj Bar.

Already going to the south we have in Porto Belo and Bombinhas beaches with a unique beauty and preserved nature. The beaches of Bombinhas by the color of the sand and sea are often compared to the beaches of the Caribbean. Bombinhas is also admitted to one of the best diving points in Brazil.
